Iglesia ni Cristo endorses Aquino-Roxas Tandem
On Wednesday, Sen. Noynoy Aquino and Sen. Mar Roxas won the endorsement of Iglesia ni Cristo through its Executive Minister, Bro. Eduardo V. Manalo.
Iglesia ni Cristo is a Christian sect believed to have millions of members and rank 2nd in the country behind Roman Catholicism. The sect traditionally votes as a block and its backing is seen as crucial in the race.
During the worship service early this morning, the list of Senatorial candidate was also read which includes Rozzano “Ruffy” Biazon, Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., Pilar Juliana Cayetano, Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Franklin Drilon, Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada, Ralph Recto, Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Manuel “Lito” Lapid, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., and TG Guingona.
Bro. Eddie V. Manalo urged millions of INC members to vote early and go home immediately after voting.
Born to one of the country’s wealthiest political clans, Aquino graduated from the Jesuit-run Ateneo de Manila University with an economics degree, then initially took low-key jobs. At one time, he worked as a manager of a company selling Nike shoes.
In 1998, he won a seat in the House of Representatives, where he served three terms before being elected to the Senate in 2007.
